A free Daylio alternative that works in your browser
Beraline is a free mood, habit and journal tracker that runs in any browser, on your phone and your computer. Its stats are free. Daylio is the more mature app and works offline, but it’s phone-only and its advanced stats are part of Premium. Here’s an honest look at both.
Why people look for a Daylio alternative
Daylio is popular for good reason. The reasons people look elsewhere tend to be the same few:
- It’s phone-only. There’s no web or desktop app, so you can’t log or look back from a computer.
- The deeper stats are in Premium. Seeing what lines up with your mood is often the reason to track in the first place.
- It’s another subscription. Premium is $4.99 a month or $35.99 a year in the US.
Beraline in short
You log a day in a few seconds: mood, habits, any trackers you design, and a line of notes. Beraline turns each day into a colour on month and year views, so you can see the shape of your year. Stats lay one tracker over another, such as sleep and mood, and they’re free. Goals and logs for books, games, film and TV sit in the same place. Your entries are stored in London under UK GDPR, with no ads and no analytics trackers.

Where Daylio is the better choice
Daylio has been around for years and it shows. The app is polished, it works fully offline, and it lives in the app stores where you’d expect to find it. A large community uses it, so tips and answers are easy to find. If you already have years of history there, that history matters, and Beraline can’t import it yet.
Where Beraline is the better choice
Beraline works anywhere you have a browser, so you can log on your phone and look back at your year on a big screen. Stats that compare trackers are free rather than part of a subscription. A journal, goals and hobby logs are built in, so you don’t need separate apps for them. Your entries are kept in your account in London, so a lost or broken phone doesn’t take them with it, and you can export everything as a file whenever you like.
The trade-offs are real: there’s no app-store app, it needs an internet connection, and it’s a much newer and smaller project than Daylio.
Who should pick which
Pick Beraline if you…
- want to log and look back from a computer as well as your phone
- want stats that compare your trackers without paying for them
- want a journal, goals and book, game or film & TV logs in the same place as your mood
- prefer your entries stored in the UK under UK GDPR
Stay with Daylio if you…
- often log without a signal and need it to work offline
- want a native app from the App Store or Google Play
- have years of Daylio history you don’t want to leave behind
- prefer a long-established app with a big community
Switching from Daylio
There’s no Daylio import yet. It’s planned, but for now switching means starting a fresh line in Beraline. You can keep your Daylio history where it is, or back it up from Daylio’s settings, and start logging in Beraline from today. Setting up your trackers takes a few minutes, and every day you log adds to your year from then on.
Questions about price, privacy or installing Beraline on your phone are answered in the FAQ.
